What to pack for snack-time at preschool (healthy preschool snack ideas). Easy ideas you can pack in a small Bento box and send for morning snack!
If your little one is starting preschool this year and youโre feeling stressed about what to pack every.single.day for morning snacktimeโฆ
Donโt worry!
Iโve got you covered with realistic ideas any toddler would love.

Last school year my 4 year old attended a Pre-K morning program that required us to send in a snack every day that they ate around 10:30 AM.
So I documented almost every preschool snack box I packed daily in my IG stories; and this year, Iโm rounding up the best of the best in this post.

Easy morning snacks for preschoolers
- Since youโll be packing snacks to send every day, we want this to be an easy โauto-pilotโ task!
- You might be asking yourself: โwhat is a good morning snack for kids?โ
- And of course today, weโre going to answer that question!
- If youโre familiar with my lunchbox posts, then you know how I use a simple formula for packing up a Bento box.
- When it comes to packing snacks, I use a similar framework so itโs one less thing to think about every day.

Hereโs what I pack:
- Fruit: fresh or dried
- Treat: mini muffin, cookies, fruit snacks, etc.
- Crunchy: crackers, pretzels, chips, etc.
- Protein: cheese or hummus
Depending on your preschoolerโs appetite, you could also pare it down to include just:
- Fruit & a muffin
- Cheese & crackers
- Hummus & pretzels

Best Bento Boxes for Preschool
Over the years Iโve โfield testedโ probably every major lunchbox on the market and so you know Iโm only going to share my go-to favorites with you.
These are the ones I reach for daily and have held up among my 3 kids (and the dishwasher in some cases).

This one is probably the most versatile and easy to pack.
Pros:
- Leakproof
- Dip section (great for hummus or treats)
- Small and lightweight
- Inner tray dishwasher-safe

Cons:
- Outer lid needs to be handwashed
- Made from plastic
I love this one for its very small size and the fact that itโs all stainless steel.
Pros:
- Durable stainless steel
- Divided sections
- Small and lightweight

Cons:
- Not leakproof
- Might not hold enough food for hungrier kids
I have legitimately had this snack box since 2017! Itโs held up and has earned its keep over the years.
Pros:
- Stainless steel inner piece
- Small, lightweight and compact
- Removable divider
- All dishwasher-safe

Cons:
- Not leakproof
- Plastic lid
- Best for holding 2 snacks (on each side of divider)
This option is fairly new but I love it because you can click an ice pack into the box itself, making it an easy choice for on-the-go.
Pros:
- Built-in ice pack
- Removable divider
- Inner tray dishwasher-safe
- Holds full sandwich

Cons:
- Made of plastic
- Outer lid hand-wash only
- Not leakproof between compartments
- Can be harder for younger kids to open
How to Pack it:
- Pack their Bento box in an insulated lunch bag
- Add a flat ice pack to keep everything cold

To Recap:
- Pack snacks for preschool using categories or a simple formula
- Pick a snack box that works best for your child
- Use an insulated lunch bag and flat ice pack to keep everything cold
